Soakaway Testing (BRE 365)
Soakaway testing (Building Research Establishment Digest 365) is performed to establish the infiltration rate or permeability of a soil strata. The test is generally undertaken within a 2 metre trial pit, filling a 1 metre gravel test section with water and recording the time to drain away with specialist data loggers. Test section depths can vary, based on the type of strata the client wants to target. Shallower test sections can also be utilised for the use of permeable paving.
